In White’s Directory of 1857 Charles is mentioned as Carrier. Martha carried
on the work of Carrier after the death of Charles (date unknown) and in
Kelly’s 1891 Directory Martha is the Carrier to Ashby-de-la-Zouch every
Saturday and Derby every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She was also named
in 1895 in Bulmers as Carrier and occupying Springfield House.
